Jane K. Springwater

Jane K. Springwater’s primary areas of practice are Creditor's Rights and Remedies and Commercial Finance. Jane has a depth of experience in Chapter 11 bankruptcies, workouts, and commercial financing transactions. She has represented purchasers of companies in bankruptcy, and creditors in contested Chapter 11 plan confirmation hearings, preference litigation, relief from stay motions, and motions for postpetition financing and use of cash collateral. Jane has represented lenders in real estate bankruptcy cases, including condominium developments, self-storage facilities, housing developments and mixed use commercial and residential properties.

In addition to bankruptcy, Jane has advised lenders and agents in senior, bridge and subordinated credit facilities, worked on venture lending and leasing transactions, and represented secured creditors in private and public personal property foreclosure sales. Jane currently serves on the Insolvency Law Committee of the State Bar of California. She served on the Uniform Commercial Code Committee of the State Bar of California from 2006 - 2009, and from 1992 - 1994. In 2009 Jane lectured to ITECH and Estonian CEO’s regarding the US Bankruptcy Code, and in 2008 lectured on hidden liens at the California State Bar Association’s Annual Meeting. Since 1999 she has served as the Educational Liaison for the Commercial Finance Association of Northern California. Jane moderated a commercial lending seminar on commercial loan documentation hosted by Lorman Education Services in August 2006, co-chaired the CFA's Asset Based Distressed Debt Program in April 2003 where she lectured on post-petition financing and use of cash collateral. She also co-chaired the Spring 2000 Asset Based Lending Program where she lectured on subordination agreements and tax liens.

Prior to the formation of Friedman & Springwater, Jane Springwater was a partner at Murphy, Weir & Butler and Murphy, Sheneman, Julian & Rogers. She is a member of the State Bar of California.
